Andrew is a vocal coach and music director specializing in popular and contemporary repertoire. He is the lead teacher and co-designer for the Contemporary Vocals program at AMDA NY, a voice instructor for The American Musical Theater Academy, a teaching artist at Artistree, and was a founding faculty member and curriculum designer for Purchase College’s Summer Songwriting, Creative Vocal Lab, and Vocal Intensive programs. He has also produced studio recordings with P.S. 65’s after-school program and music directed for several schools and after-school programs in NYC and the NY Metro area, all in addition to maintaining his private studio.
Internationally, he is co-founder, artistic director, and lead teacher for Nvak Foundation, an innovative music education program sponsored by Atlantic Records that focuses on empowering and elevating young people in conflicted and/or struggling regions via popular music. Nvak, which Andrew started with Tamar Kaprelian, has been the subject of a documentary profile Al-Jazeera English and has offered students collaborations with such leading artists as Serj Tankian, Ben Moody, and Sebu Simonian. In summer of 2018, Nvak will be delivering its flagship workshop in Armenia, as well as a new workshop offering in Jerusalem. The Jerusalem workshop, in collaboration with Seeds for Peace, will focus on creating collaboration between young Israeli musicians of different backgrounds – Jewish, Arabic, and more.
