Richard Cerato is a director and acting coach, and a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (Masters in Directing), listed third in the world for performing arts education. Richard has acted in original casts on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and touring companies nationally in the U.S., and 7 countries internationally; has been directed and choreographed by Tony Award Winner Andy Blankenbuehler, former Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet Artistic Director Benoit-Swan Pouffer, Emmy Award Winner Tyce Diorio, Tony Award Winner Baayork Lee, 10 time Tony Award Nominee Graciela Daniele, and Leading International Dance Company Pilobolus; and has been seen in commercials, industrials, and music videos for Taylor Swift, The Orion Experience, and musical theatre artist Joey Contreras. His directorial debut, April is Over, had its world premiere at the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow, U.K., before transferring to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where it received 5 stars and was heralded as “entirely human, entirely recognizable, and yet completely original”. Richard has directed and assistant directed works for the Israel Festival, Outshine Film Festival, Altfest New York, Bard in the Botanics, Edinburgh Festival Theatre, Oran Mor, Traverse Theatre, and Shakespeare’s Globe in London, where he completed a 2017 directing residency. Richard is part of the producing team at Groundswell Theatricals, a member of Actors Equity Association, and a founding member of Noble Stage and Film, dedicated to the creation of experimental new works in all mediums, including plays, musicals, film, and performance art.
Richard works in New York City as a teaching artist and acting coach of all ages, having led master classes and workshops internationally.
